A couple days ago, while cleaning out one of our thousands of overstuffed closets, trying to prepare for a quickie yard sale, I came across these...Alona's very first pair of pink converse's....
They're so small and pink and cute and....ahhhhh well, I could go on and on. I'll just leave it at , they brought back alot of memories of her being a baby. :0)
Yesterday...it was such a busy day, it must have been around 11 last night when I realized I didn't update.
Sorry...really, really I am.
So...with that, here's what happened at Kody's eye appt. yesterday.
Yes, his right eye is turning inwards and upwards to.
It is mild though...so you probably won't even notice it when I post pictures of him. Unless...he is tired or has a headache..then you can see it more.
His vision in that eye isn't as good as it used to be and definitely not as good as his left eye..which is darn near perfect.
Also, his peripheral vision in his right eye is not good at all.
He can't see out to the side until the object is about at a 45 degree angle in front of him.
When he looks to the side, his eye goes to the side a little and then rolls up.
Since it is still at it's mild stage, he won't need surgery to his eye muscle to correct this.
Keep in mind, he has already had this same surgery to the same eye and there are really only so many times you can operate for the same thing on the same eye. So, unless it gets alot worse or he starts losing his vision, seeing double, interfering with life, we don't need to worry about it right now.
He has a test scheduled for next month called a "field vision" test. He would have had it yesterday but he was already way too dilated.
The medical term for what he has is, written by his eye doctor is:
"Vertical deviation of eyes...? Skew deviation 2 degree to the mid brain tumor vs. dissociated vertical deviation {history of Strabismus surgery}."
Ahhh, yeah..so I have no idea what that all really means except that his eye turns, he can't see anything to the right side and this is very typical with kids that have shunts and/or shunt problems.
Which leads us to believe even more so that installing the one way valve in his VP shunt, that we will discuss with his neurosurgeon on Monday, is even more so a good idea and perhaps..just maybe, with that valve in place, he won't have anymore fluid buildup and inter cranial pressure and his eye will heal itself.
Now, that would be SWEET!!!!!
About those candy necklaces...I hardly ever see them too. Karl was at a little grocery store here in town called "Save-A-Lot and he found a whole package of them there for one dollar.
Brings back memories, doesn't it?
About the Boggy Creek pic's...LOL...we got about 30 "self portrait" pic's. and about 15 of kids running around in cabins too. :0)
It's fixin' to be a very hot day around here...so I better jump off and make sure the pool is perfect for my hellians to do some swimming today.
Have a beautiful day everyone!!!!
Love, Kim

That is promising and hopeful news about Kody! I hope that installing the valve will make a difference for him. especially with his eyes. It must be frustrating for him, especially when he's tired. Good luck at the neurosurgeon's on Monday!
Hmm regarding the Candy Necklaces (such a blast from the past!) the price Karl paid for them was totally old school!
I'd love to find them here but I suspect I'd no longer be able to put them around my neck! LOL
Have a Great Weekend K family!

The visual field test is kinda like a video game, not hard at all. Benji gets one peridically because of where his tumor was.
Take care,
Loriann
