Those are tent caterpillars-you should burn them as they will eat all the leaves off the trees

Caterpillars! You just have some caterpillar nests. Nothing bad. Pretty neat for Kody and Kolin to watch if they've never seen them.

Ewww! Those look like web worms! And if that's what they are, you need to get rid of them, quick. They'll destroy your tree. Call the local nursery, and see what they have.

Up here we call them tent caterpillars. Our trees get loaded with them. They eat the trees' foliage and do lots of damage. The best thing to do is burn them out. Because if you have one 'pod' more will come. Trust me, you don't want them around.

Like, Ewwwww is correct!

But honestly, the first thing I noticed about the picture? The nice green leaves. Sigh.

Hey Kim, those ugly creepy crawlers look like what is taking over and eating our trees up North here in Wisconsin. They are nasty looking. You can spray for them, or you can 'get rid of them' while they are in their tent. They eat all the foilage off the trees and the tree ends up dying. It sounds mean, but if you wait until night time they all return to their tent. That's when you cut the branch off that is holding the tent and put it into the fire pit. Good luck!

OK Kim~ I had the same pods last year- I believe it is a gypsy moth pod... I used to drive by big trees on the side of the road and wonder what was in there..... So I called my daddy and in a very panicked voice he informed me to RUN to Home Depot or Lowes because they will take over the tree and KILL IT!!! You have to buy certain stuff, spray the pod and CRACK it open and make sure you get all the things moving in it(hence the long rubber gloves I bought and my husband made fun of me until I looked out back and there he was with a big long pole and his bright blue gloves!!!!! HAHAHAHA) ... I am telling you that they will take over in a matter of days!!! Beware!!!! Just a helpful little note!!! God luck~ Kate

I'm pretty sure that's tent caterpiller and they suck! If you don't get rid of them they fill with babies and start dropping out all over the place. Totally gross!

Kim, I think those are a type of worm that infest the trees in spring time. They make those lovely little pods and are all over the trees...especially fruit trees up here. You could always have the boys test "just one" and see what is in it.

Ewwwww is right

You have bag worms, we get them in texas all the time. If you don't want to hassel or expense of chemicals, just take a broom handle or something simular and poke holes in them. The birds will take care of the rest.
