Autumn Pumpkin

"Autumn begins with a subtle change in the light, with skies
a deeper blue, and nights that become suddenly clear and
chilled. The season comes full with the first frost, the
disappearance of migrant birds, and the harvesting of
the season's last crops."
- Glenn Wolff and Jerry Dennis -

Fall Pumpkin

All the Halloween deco. got put up yesterday and because I don't have a whole lot of "Turkey Day" stuff, the house she's a lookin' kind of...boring.
Hmmmm.....gotta fix that real soon.

I am soooo not looking forward to December. Guess I have never really been the holly jolly Christmas person.
Oh I'll get through it alright for the kids but our tree goes up the weekend before and it comes down by Jan. 1st. Sooner if I can help it. Luckily for me, I married someone who 100% agrees with that rule. LOL!

I really think it is because of all the "buy me" and the "let the competition of cooler a/k/a out of the ball park expensive, kids gifts begin" hoopla that goes with the holiday. IMHO, if three gifts were good enough for Jesus, who's birthday we are celebrating anyway, then why shouldn't three gifts be good enough for everyone else?
In our home, there really are very little {OK, like just about none} "Santa Claus" type decorations. I am however, leaning towards the whole deers and trees lit up by white lights only for the front yard.
Don't get me wrong here, I mean I want to celebrate and all, I just don't want to go sickeningly ga-ga over the top with the whole rosy cheeked, chubby, big red jacket wearing guy.

With me it's either hot, tropical, bright colors of summer or the still pretty hot here, orange/black/purple colors, dark side of Halloween.
I was in Target on Tuesday, just floating around looking at all the Halloween clearance stuff and right next to it was isles and isles and cheery, happy Christmas stuff.
As much as I did enjoy checking out the ornament section, the music....dang, too much for me.
I did however, find lots of ornaments with the word "Hope" {my favorite word in the world} on them.
Maybe, just maybe there will be some Christmasy shopping in my future. If only they'd turn down that mindless, endless, continuing loops of Santa Claus is coming to town music. :0)

Well everyone, I have got to get going. Another day, lots to accomplish.

Hoping everyone has a really great day today!!

Hey, Kim. I found something that we're different about. :) I LOVE getting my tree put up right after Thanksgiving and then taking it down after the 1st of the year. Mind you, it takes me a whole week to get the thing decorated AND the last few years we've used artificial, so that is how I can get away with it being up so long.

I get ya on how Christmas is overdone with all the gifts. I'd much rather celebrate my child's b-day with extra stuff and save all the stress and stuff of "give, give, give" during the holidays.

Hope Kody's feeling A-OK this week.

Woo! I'm with you on the whole holiday thing. I'm not much into Christmas, I actually get depressed seeing all the decorations coming out. Don't know why. And I can't stand for my tree to be up longer than a couple weeks, tops. I want it down a couple days after Christmas is over.

I'm with you on the tree and the decorations. Back in the day, nothing Christmas came out in the stores or peoples decorations until the day after Thanksgiving. Now that day is Black Friday and a big spend spend spend day instead of decorating. I am so over it already and it's not even the middle of November. Sigh. Love CJ PS Maybe it's a Floridian thing to feel this way

CJ I have never participated in "Black Friday" and never will. Is it really worth it when prices come way down the week before Christmas anyway? Nope, not to me.
Oh...Kody asked for a $300 I-Pod. I laughed till I almost fell on the floor. I bet you can imagine that. LOL!
