Interesting how you remember some things very clearly. I was watching a movie... don't remember which one... and then suddenly there was an "Urgent news bulletin". I was MAD - they interrupted a movie, what the heck.
And then it was the WTC on fire. Everyone thought it was a very unusual plane crash until the second plane hit the second tower. I spent almost 6 hours in front of the TV, switching from CNN to Skynews and as the second tower collapsed I remember the presenter saying: "The World Trade Center doesn't exist anymore". That was... goosebumpy.
It's considered "good tone" in Russia to dislike and criticize America in every possible way but the terrorist attacks on 25-story residential buildings in Moscow and WTC attack in NYC made our two countries very close... even if for a brief moment.
I SO MUCH wish, our governments would just stop measuring whose is longer and start REAL cooperation and friendship... as naive as it sounds. Just imagine, WHAT we could've achieved in the past 70-80 years if we worked TOGETHER. MUCH more than we achieved separately.

Nice post, Kim. As they say, a picture can say a thousand words.
I'll never forget where I was that day, and what I saw on tv. The fear, the pain, the anxiety. And we didn't have anyone personally involved in the tragedy. I can't even imagine what they went/go through...
