The Broken Chain

The Broken Chain by Ron Tranmer

We little knew that day,
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide.
And although we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

It's been a bad past few days. The grief is killing me...my new Dr. whom I saw yesterday seems to think so anyway. He says I have got to get past this somehow.
I just want to give up.

Kim, my heart just breaks for you. I truly hope you can get a grip on it and somehow move on. It's not easy, I know that. I dread when my time comes if it ever does.

I'd be looking for another "new" doctor! Grief is not something you can just get past, everyone works through it at their own pace. What a jerk!

Kim, you & your family are in my heart & prayers.

Much love,
Rhonda Chesney

Dear Kim,
Its so easy for us to say you need to get past it I do not think I could either ever but somehow for your children and grandchildren - you need to. Please find a way - Karl would want that.

I don't think there is a right or wrong way to get through this. Each minute, each hour, each day, you will find a way to cope. I can only imagine that Karl's birthday will always be one of the toughest, no matter how much healing takes place. From what you wrote about him and his relationship with you and the kids, he would most certainly want to see you living life to the fullest, honoring the love that he left with you and among you by finding happiness in big and small ways. Even when the wave pulls you under for a while, don't panic because you won't stay down for long.

Don't give up. You are important to so many people. Everyone grieves in different ways and it takes different amounts of time. I agree with Rhonda, I would find another doctor. Hugs.

I lost my husband at 39 years of age and had 3 children to raise. No one can tell you how long it takes to grieve. Just try to stay strong for the boys! Even though you don't want to go on - they need you! Love to you all.
